Employability Skills – CSI
Methodology:
Discussion and exchange of experiences from different cultures
This session was particularly special, as it raised a kind of “sensitive” issue of gender and work, indicating how different cultures perceive women who work. The trainer encouraged participants to share the traditions coming from their countries with regards to the topic, and all the women felt quite comfortable to share. There was a lively exchange of views and many realised that some cultural norms linked to the topic are similar to different countries. Although only three participants joined the workshop, it was nevertheless interactive and some valuable views were exchanged among the participants.

Feedback from participant(s) or trainer:
What’s the most important thing you have learned during the workshop?
One of the things we’ve learned is the value of providing the space for women to share their own personal stories with regards to traditions and culture in their home country, and to give them the voice and the floor to lead the session with their discussions rather than the trainer being the person who constantly speaks. Placing the women at the center of the discussion allowed them to take initiative, to feel comfortable to share between them and prompted some interesting conversations.
